Privacy Policy

Tinsel List does not collect, store, or share your personal data. It has no accounts, no servers of its own, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party code. Everything you put into the app - people, present ideas, photos, card addresses, budgets - stays on your device.

What Tinsel List does not do

• No accounts, no sign-in.
• No analytics or tracking.
• No advertising or third-party SDKs.
• No network requests to our servers (we do not operate any).
• We receive no data from your device, ever.

What Tinsel List does do

• Your plans are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework: the people you add and their names, relationships, photos and notes; Christmas card recipients and the postal addresses you type or pick for them; present ideas and their photos, links, prices and buying status; received presents and thank-you notes; budgets, food, decorations, and trip details. None of it is transmitted to us.
• Photos. When you pick pictures from your photo library, Apple's photo picker shows the app only the items you choose; Tinsel List cannot browse your library. When you take a photo in the app, it is saved into the app's own storage, not your camera roll.
• Contacts. "Add from Contacts" uses Apple's contact picker, which hands the app only the names and addresses you select. Tinsel List never has access to your contacts database, and no permission prompt is needed.
• Face ID. If you turn on App Lock, the matching is done by iOS. The app only learns whether unlocking succeeded; it never sees biometric data.
• The share extension. When you share an image into Tinsel List from another app, it is copied into the app's private storage on your device. If App Lock is on, shared images wait in a local inbox until you next unlock the app.
• Reminders. Annual reminders are optional, local notifications scheduled on your device. iOS asks for notification permission only after you choose to turn them on.
• Backups. You can export an encrypted backup protected by a passphrase you choose. You decide where the file goes, and wherever you send it has its own privacy terms. We cannot read your backup and cannot recover a lost passphrase.

Retention and deletion

Your content stays on your device until you delete it in the app or uninstall the app. Backup files you exported live wherever you saved them; delete them there if you no longer want them.

Children's privacy

Tinsel List is rated 4+ and contains no objectionable content. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and note material changes in the app's release notes.
